Super Meteor Nite Out

Image
Yesterday was opportunistic test ride, this evening I was invited by Rusydi Razali of RE Malaysia to have a go on the Super Meteor 650. As some of u may know, I moved 99% of stuff back to Sarawak. I was using my sunglasses yesterday. Now evening ride hmm if I use the same 3/4 helmet borrowed from the shop, I may need eye protection. Light bulb movement....get a safety glasses from hardware shop. Since I was there I got myself a pair of earplugs, nice pair too.   Met my buddy at Royql Enfield showroom. Pick up the helmet and key to the Super Meteor 650. We starterld riding in the usual KL jam ( not bad, some folks are still not back to work). But first impression of the bike was how easy it started. The unconventional starter button stopped me in my track, Atboy the iconic sales character my good fren came to point out the push to the left starter button. The bike purred to live. Snicked the gear in 1, initially I wasn't sure where the gear paddle was, my right foot have...

Cost of survival

Man and machine relationship, it is more than meets the eye. Recently my doctor called..  "Mr. Sim, you have missed couple of appointments to do your check ups" Please make an appointment soonest possible". My car's service centre sent me a text to say my car is due for service. When I look at my bikes service records, I know all of them are due for oil change and general checks. Boy, my body and vehicles are on the same boat (pun).   When I started riding/ driving 36 years ago, none of these things matter. Basically, I didn't  own a car, dad was the "go to". My first bike was a 2 stokes Yamaha RX-S 115cc ( if memory serves) bought by my dad for me to commute to work. I took bus to work wasn't really motivating. The Yammy came with broken side stand which required wall leaning everytime I parked. Harlik the bassist of the resident band at the restaurant where I worked, did a fine rescue job by welding a piece of metal on to the existing half grinded...

My Vicky Flame- Victory Highball 2018

Image
Having sold my Triumph T100 Bonneville in 2017 or early 2018, I was pretty much given up biking because my riding buddy "Lowboy" (named after the exhaust pipe on his bike) at the time sold his Triumph Speed Tripple R to start a cafe business. No riding buddy, I did not have a group to attach with Triumph at the do from time to time organise rides. I wasn't active with the Ratpack.  On one fine Saturday, Lowboy and I decided to go check out some bike shops since both of us are bike bachelors. We thought we may fine one to get engaged with.  First stop a Kawasaki dealer in Jalan Ipoh. First time I lay eye on Z900RS, was itchy to consider seriously about it. Lowboy and I went upstairs later, he was interested in ZRX1200 with nice Yoshimura exhaust, owned by a Japanese expatriate that just recently left Malaysia. We left without rings on our fingers (key rings). Next stop we went to an old and famous importer. We checked out Honda CB1100, Goldwing and F6B. Too expensive. Too...

What's the idea and blog's flavor

On Sunday nite before dinner, whatsapp msgs kept popping in, they're from Bill the Sleepy. We thought it would be good to put my biking minds to good use and public service. I told him I always wanted to dabble into blogging and do some writing. Here, we like to try our best to provide information, personal, opinions and with some data  copied for official material and quote. Mostly, out personal experience on real life daily rides, living with, service charges. Not only bikes but bikes related materials like workshops (mystery rider like mystery guess in hotel business). Bike gears, jacket gloves, boots and other stuff. Ride destinations, restaurants, camp sites, camp gears, travel ideas.   All the above through the eyes of bikers, travelers and adventurers. We also primarily want to showcase some bikes that we personally used. Bikes that you may want to buy on 2nd hand market. Some old bikes you think you wanna buy to worry about paying too much or too much work. ...

And it begins!

Hi!! readers, I am Peter aka Peterockwell,  I live in Malaysia between 2 land mass, work and live in KL and at times spending time with my family in Sarawak East Malaysia (Borneo).  After a long painstaking months of toying with the idea to start a blog or a website for me to pen, my experiences and views. There is this need in me to share and express my opinions too. As situation has it, I have more time now then before to be able to dabble into this writing journey.  As I have mentioned in recent FB post  " I m not a racer or renowned  world traveler/ rider nor am I a riding coach or a moto- journo. I m but a person who own many bikes, ridden a few, travel some, modified several, most of all passionate about bikes, bikes related activities and enjoy hanging out with my fellow biking friends.   I just love to share my experience and my views as an ordinary biker."  I hope you would enjoy the stories and motivate me by supporting these pages...
